oh the madness and a half birthday!

how incredibly fast the days seem to pass.
it feels like just yesterday sweet Finn entered into the world,
although my tired body says otherwise
and yet in the the blink of eye we've already celebrated his half birthday!

each addition to the family somehow speeds up the clock,
we reach milestones so much faster.
gone are the days of waiting around for them to do "something"
the "somethings" are happening fast and furious from all three kiddos.
and I'm trying to keep up.
some days it feels impossible to meet all of their demands, their needs and wants
and other days we manage a perfect rhythm.

life is very busy with three littles, some sleeping but mostly not
it's like musical beds most every night
but I know it my heart that these are perhaps the simplest of times of head
their needs still mostly primal, a hug and kiss still mend boo boos
they need a snuggle and for you to watch their "cool" trick
I know in later years we will be longing for them to want us or need us like they do now.
or at least I will.

so I'll take the sleep deprivation, not going to the bathroom alone (in four years)
and sleeping wedged between Georgie and Finn every night as some of the best times of our life
because all those wistful faces of sweet grandmas at the grocery store can't be wrong.

conversations with Oliver

a couple of weeks ago we got a rooster names Stripes.
Oliver "are we farmers now"
Me " well, we only have 1 dog and 1 rooster. So not really "
Oliver "just pretend farmers?"
Me "yes, is that ok?"
Oliver "sure, but we should think about becoming real farmers"

feel the purge

Now that it's officially spring, I've got the urge to purge.
No room in the house will be spared, no drawer overlooked.
Clutter totally stresses me out. When things are super messy or unorganized which is all the time since having kids, I'm feeling like we need to get ruthless and let go of so many, too many things.

here are a few of my rules Get Real. Get Rid- if it takes you like 5 or 10 minutes to dream up a scenario of when you could wear it or use it, lose it. If you utter the words, "I forgot I had this" then clearly you have lived your life just fine without it. Move on. Get organized and find it a home- if you can't then chances are it needs to go. Lastly, instead of mindlessly donating it to the closet bin, choose an organization you feel would benefit the most from it.

So I'm committing the rest of April to shaping up and cleaning out our house- so far I've packed up and donated 2 car loads of clothes, toys, books etc. And I'm excited to hit up the remaining rooms... especially the kitchen and pantry. This is an excellent time to take stock, re-arrange and move older items to front to get used up!

planting roots

with spring just around the corner and although we still have ginormous snow banks
(hopefully withering away with a few days of milder temps) I am happily forming our plans for an organic garden!
this will our first year planting and I'm so looking forward to reaping the benefits of eating and juicing homegrown food.
It just can't get any more local than that and I'm so excited for the kiddos to get involved too.

this year will be a learning year and probably won't yield as good a crop as what we will get in the years to come but I can't wait to get started!

I'll be sure to post our progress.... when we can see land again!

let love reign

sorry for the silence lately,
we have been totally consumed with snuggling and loving on our new little bundle.

Finn Ezra arrived on Dec 27th
born at home in the wee hours of the morning.
We are beyond blessed to have this healthy, beautiful boy join our family. xoxo

bogs

A few weeks ago as I was surfing the web looking for minimalist footwear
suitable for Canadian winters, I came across these...
BOGS

knowing that I will be hauling three little ones around this winter, I wanted something practical, comfortable but that still has some style. I couldn't be happier with the summit so far, made from super-soft, 100% waterproof fabric with plush lining for extra warmth, it features 2mm of Neo-TechTM insulation, a dual-density, contoured EVA insole with DuraFresh anti-odor protection and molded rubber outsole. Thy are machine-washable and rated for temperatures up to 14°F/-10°!
I originally opted for the black mix but it was unavailable in my size so I went with the red and am so glad I did, although I'm contemplating ordering the black too...

I also picked up these baby bogs for Oliver and Georgie. I wanted something easy on and off, warm and waterproof. Georgie has tiny feet so these are a great fit. She's still getting used to wearing socks and  boots although she really prefers to be bare foot or wear her favourite pink shoes.

so if you are in the market for fall/winter footwear,
I highly recommend you check out BOGS.

52 weeks ago our life was like this
what felt like a never-ending Saturday at the time,
would have completely been erased from my memory if I didn't have this wee little blog.

I've decided to keep more of my personal moments and kids milestones off this space
and use it to persue other topics and personal interests.
Lately I've been feeling more inspired to write here again
but I certainly love to look back once and a while!

Amazing how quickly a year goes by...
from cow baby to playing (eating) playdoh with her big brother.
I can't believe in about 2 months this little lady is going to be a big sister!

fall days- #1000thanks

we have been having the most perfect fall days lately,
sunshine and good times frolicking in our little forest with these two!

my little lady has grown up so much in the past month it's bananas.
She held out on us for a while, not really saying much other than a few sporadic words
but now that the flood gate is open she surprises us with new words daily.
Not one to be left behind, she wants to do everything that Oliver is doing!

Thankful for these 2 munchkins
and our ghill life they get to roam and explore together.

three

soon there will be three...
we are so excited to be adding another to our growing family!

We are opting for another delivery surprise but Oliver is confident it’s going to be a brother and Georgie’s sure it’s going to be someone else to boss around. I’m feeling great and lots of movement!
Baby#3 due sometime in December or as I like to say "coming this Holiday 2013 season".

where beauty abounds

Although I'm not looking forward to another long winter
and autumn is most certainly the precursor to it...
fall skies are kind amazing, no?

juicing- beet root edition

my juice of choice lately has been a variety of beet root recipes.
First because my local CSA (community shared agriculture) basket has been stocked with them weekly. Secondly because of the host of nutritional benefits found in them
and finally because they are so delicious!

1-2 small beet root
1 pear
1 gala apple
3 carrots
handful of strawberries
1-2 oranges

The best part of juicing is you can really play to your own taste buds.
This recipes makes enough for approx 4 servings- A glass for me and the hubs, half a sippy cup each for the kiddos (I add water to theirs as well).

little reminders

It was another whirl wind morning of trying to get everyone ready,
out the door and on time. I was in auto pilot mode, completely oblivious
when Oliver said "Mommy look there are three deer!"
And there were. Two doe's and a fawn. Gorgeous.

ghill life lately

oh July came and went a little too quickly for my liking.
But I did manage to take a week off to be with my kiddos and we had a great time
visiting with friends and exploring Storeybook Gardens!
We were all quite exhausted after our fun filled week but loved every minute of it.
Hooray for Holidays!

ghill life lately

And here we are less than a week away from Georgie's big day.
ONE. Gah! how can it be so? This is year really has been one of the most challenging.

Being a mother is infinitely challenging, there are many moments that I surprise myself, marvel at these two little wonders and my ability in parenting them. Then again there are other days when I wish I could have a do over. Such is life. We are carving out our new norm and new daily routine, which pretty much changes everyday ha! But as we are adjusting to a full time work/daycare schedule and I can feel the shift toward normalcy again.  Happy Dance.
What can I say I am a creature of habit and I love the predictable.
Well as predictable as it gets with these two!

So here it is, April life in ghill.

ghill life lately

I held my first open house for my new Arbonne venture
and with the support of my family and friends met my Strong Start goals!
I have been having a blast with it thus far
and look forward to this month with new challenges and lots of learning to do.
The products really are amazing and I know how well they have worked for me
but I absolutely love hearing how they have improved someone else's life!

And so here it is, some snap shots of our ghill life lately!

january life

and here we are, the last day of January!
What a crazy month, filled with snot, new beginnings and lots of ups and downs!
As a fitting end to a tumultuous month, it literally went from +12 degrees Celsius yesterday to -6 now. Last night we seen everything from pouring rain to snow with insane winds. Whoa!

An exciting January moment was of course seeing our little lady start to crawl! She seemed to master it in no time and this past week she's shown us how quickly she can pick up speed. Oliver is learning to accept her newly found mobility, although at times dislikes when his perfectly formed lineup of trucks is disrupted by her. While the battles over trucks may be starting, they are also sharing in new interactions and developing a a new bond. It's wonderful to see them "playing" together
and watching Georgie crawl after her big brother trying to catch up.
Or her amusement when he's racing his trucks around the kitchen.

Georgie is certainly growing and changing,
but she's such a lightweight compared to her brother at this age.
And while Georgie is mastering the crawling, Oliver preferred the body dragging. Honestly he dragged himself all over the place for months! It seemed like just when he figured out how to "crawl" he discovered walking and liked that far better! I'm happy for Georgie just to keep crawling for bit and save the walking for later. One hurdle at a time please!

9 Month Comparison

Georgie's expression cracks me up! "Mom enough with the pictures"... not quite a "No Pictures" yet.
Yes, I think it's safe to say Oliver had a pound or two on her ha!
Also can I just say hallelujah that Georgie does not have the same insane cowlick that Oliver has.
It's bad enough on a boy but would have been a complete nightmare for a girl.
