song of the week

This album is oh so good, it's hard to choose just one song for this week.
Shake  from the album Let's be Still  by The Head and the Heart

Other favourites are Homecoming Heros and My Friends
Oh and check out their tour dates... London and Toronto dates are happening at the end of March!

microbirth

Please take a moment (or nine minutes rather) and watch this trailer
it's about a feature length documentary looking at birth through the lens of a microscope. It explores the latest scientific research into the microscopic events that occur during and immediately after birth.

"This compelling, brand new science is starting to indicate that if the natural processes of childbirth are interfered with or bypassed completely, this could have devastating consequences for the long-term health of our children. Just to be clear, this film is not calling for an end to interventions as many times they are essential and they can be life-saving. But as this new science is starting to indicate, the use of synthetic oxytocin to induce or speed up labour (Pitocin / Syntocinon), antibiotics, C-section, the routine separation of mother and baby immediately after birth and formula feeding, could significantly raise the risk of our children developing serious disease later in life. And as the film shows, the medicalisation of childbirth could even be contributing to a potential global human catastrophe predicted to happen by the year 2030.
This catastrophe could have a devastating impact for the future of our species.
The clock is clicking down to an event that we have been describing as "global warming for the species".
But there is hope. "MICROBIRTH" suggests a potential solution. For this new science is presenting us all with a golden opportunity. For if we act now to make change happen, we could improve the life-long health of our children and we could even put the brakes on this impending global disaster.
This is a factual, scientifically rigorous documentary featuring academics from, amongst others, Ivy League universities and leading institutions from the United States, Canada and Europe.
We believe this film is the most important film we will ever make. But we need your help to get the film finished and seen around the world. So that together, with your help, we can make change happen.
We believe this is a moment in history.
The choice of what happens next is a choice that belongs to all of us."

Please check out their indiegogo campaign to find out how you can support this incredibly important film!

4/52

Oliver is keen to help with anything that requires him to use that step stool! So I save little tasks for him and I  to do when Georgie and Finn are in bed.

Georgie is daring and bold and easily gets away with it because she can really lay the charm on thick.

Our sweet Finn is already a month old!

etsy love

hey y'all, my sister-in-law just opened up her etsy shop!
stocked with adorable must-have for the little babes in your life.
These make great shower gifts for the mamas-to-be or great items to just buy yourself.
She's adding new items all the time and of course accepting custom orders as well.

sunshine on a frosty day

It may be freezing outside, blistering winds and drifting snow
but inside the wood stove is rocking and I'm sipping on this glass of sunshine!

welcome to Canada and the 2014 polar vortex
or what some people used to call just plain old winter.

3/52

Oliver is a serious and sensitive soul and just like his father he's a little camera shy.
Pretty excited to capture a moment like this one, uninhabited and oh so happy!

Georgie on the other hand is spontaneous and energetic. She's all about the adventure!

Finn doing what he does best these days, snuggling with mama.

2/52

playing a little catch up!

Oliver is constantly looking to help, do and try new things. Even though it often means the task takes longer and turns out far messier than if I had done it myself, I always say yes.

Georgie is sassy and saucy and fiercely independent.

Finn snuggled in his wool woombie, this has been an incredible newborn essential- keeping him cozy despite the insanely cold temperatures.

click project- 1/52

The click project is a collection of portraits of each one of my kids,
taken once a week for a year. I am going to try my best to pull out the "good" camera and work on my skills  but it will definitely be a mix of iphone pics too. 'Cause with 3 kiddos to capture...
a picture is a picture!

Oliver- probably the proudest big brother on the planet!

let love reign

sorry for the silence lately,
we have been totally consumed with snuggling and loving on our new little bundle.

Finn Ezra arrived on Dec 27th
born at home in the wee hours of the morning.
We are beyond blessed to have this healthy, beautiful boy join our family. xoxo
